Salette Andrews, a member of the Wilmington City Council, has been re-appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources (EENR) Federal Advocacy Committee.

According to a news release, Andrews was appointed to a second one-year term and "will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on sustainability, climate change, community resilience, water infrastructure, solid waste management and more."

The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, mayor of Athens, Ohio.

“I am honored to be re-appointed to NLC's EENR Committee, because it’s an opportunity to ensure Wilmington’s needs and priorities are part of the national conversation on sustainability and resilience,” Andrews said in the release. “As our city faces challenges like flooding, coastal protection, and responsible development, this role allows me to advocate for policies and resources that directly impact our community. I am committed to continuing to find innovative solutions and best practices that will help Wilmington grow sustainably while preserving our natural environment for future generations.”

This year’s EENR will be led by Chair Katrina Thompson, Mayor, Village of Broadview, Illinois; Vice Chair Mila Besich, Mayor, Town of Superior, Arizona; and Vice Chair Abbie Kamin, Councilmember, City of Houston, Texas.
