Genesis Block Foundation (GBF), a hub for entrepreneurship in Southeastern North Carolina, has announced the appointment of four new members to its board of directors: Amy Sullivan, Terry Espy, April Scott and Jerry Coleman.

Sullivan, who has an extensive background in finance and operations, is the new board chair, according to a news release.

The new members join the organization’s existing board, led by vice chair Khalilah Olokunolu, treasurer Sharm Brantley and secretary Tufanna Bradley, along with directors Ned Marable, Lisa Weeks, Tanya McGee and Girard Newkirk.

“We are incredibly fortunate to welcome such a talented and diverse group of individuals to our board,” said Tracey Newkirk, executive director, in the release. “Their expertise and passion for entrepreneurship will be invaluable as we continue to grow and support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in southeastern North Carolina.”

According to the release, "Espy is a respected leader in the community with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by entrepreneurs, primarily small business owners."

Scott has years of experience supporting small businesses helping to get their ventures off the ground. "She will help with our expansion into Brunswick County," the release stated.

According to the release, Coleman "has a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. His insights will be valuable as GBF continues to develop new programs and initiatives. He has been a constant supporter of GBF for the past 4 years.

In addition to welcoming new board members, GBF has two new programs designed to empower local entrepreneurs:
  • C2C Accelerator: This program will focus on matching small businesses with larger anchor organizations to increase supply chain diversity and grow local, small and diverse-owned business contracting opportunities.
  • Meet The Neighbors: This small business networking event series will allow entrepreneurs to connect, share best practices, and promote knowledge sharing and collaboration.
GBF has also announced its Inaugural Taste of Trucks fundraising event, which is scheduled to be held May 3.
