For the second consecutive year, the team at Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall has been recognized for promoting wellness. The independent living community in Wilmington has been awarded the 2024 ICAA NuStep Beacon Award.
The honor recognizes North America's Top 25 Best in Wellness senior living communities, according to a news release.
"Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall is a luxury senior living rental community offering independent living that supports a vibrant lifestyle for active older adults," the release stated. "Bradley Creek Health Center, located onsite, provides assisted living, memory support, rehabilitation and skilled nursing for both residents of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall and the surrounding area, thus providing a complete continuum of care for older adults."
The Beacon Award is a joint initiative between the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) and NuStep LLC.
"ICAA is a leader in connecting and defining the active-aging industry," according to the release. "NuStep manufactures fitness equipment that is widely used in healthcare, senior living and fitness."
To Carolina Bay, wellness is defined as being the holistic integration of physical, nutritional, spiritual, social and intellectual dimensions, "resulting in an optimal level of well-being," the release stated.
“In order to ensure that our residents’ needs are met, our Life Enrichment and Wellness departments work very closely to collaborate on all programming and events,” said Madison Norris, wellness director, in the release.
Some of the highlights of Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall's wellness endeavors include Parkinson's programming, line dancing, cardio drumming, water aerobics, balance classes and many more, according to the release. Additionally, Carolina Bay's annual Olympics Week brings residents together in a community wide competition featuring various activities.
Norris stated in the release, “It is an honor to be able to provide such a wide variety of programming to our residents to keep them active and engaged. We take pride in creating specific activities and classes that are personalized to fit their specific needs and interests."
