Gov. Roy Cooper recently announced state panel appointees, including Wilmington-area residents.
Katrina Knight of Wilmington was appointed to the N.C. Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless Programs as a member of a nonprofit agency providing services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk, a news release stated. Knight is the executive director of Good Shepherd Center.
"Knight advocates for affordable housing, effective homelessness interventions, and practices like housing first and rapid rehousing," the release stated.
She is also the former director of the Housing Resource Center in St. Louis. Missouri.
Samuel J. Corbett III of Hampstead was appointed chair of the Marine Fisheries Commission. Corbett is a full-time commercial fisherman with over 40 years of experience.
According to the release, "He is a dedicated member serving on multiple committees under North Carolina’s Division of Marine Fisheries."
