The College of Health and Human Services recently announced that Kristin Mapson has been named interim associate dean for research and innovation within the college, effective Aug. 13.
Mapson, who has been with the School of Social Work since 2013, is a professor and currently serves as the interim associate school director and master of social work program coordinator, according to a news release.
She is a member of the college’s leadership team and works closely with its three schools, the UNC Wilmington Research and Innovation office and other units throughout the university to support the college’s faculty, staff and students and research mission, the release stated.
“Dr. Mapson is a seasoned researcher and proven academic leader. Her extensive experience and dedication to research and innovation make her an excellent fit for this new role,” Dean Jack Watson said of her appointment in the release. “Dr. Mapson brings a great deal of college, institutional, and professional research related experience to the table and I am excited about her serving in this role.”
Mapson holds a PhD in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington, an MSW from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree in law and society from Purdue University.
