UNCW College of Health and Human Services Assistant Dean Sheri Leavens and Centro Hispano Director Edel Segovia have been selected to the fifth cohort of the University of North Carolina System’s Executive Leadership Institute, according to a news release.

They are among 33 individuals selected across the system’s 17 campuses.

The Executive Leadership Institute was designed to build the next generation of top leadership within the UNC System, a release stated. The 10-month program will provide an overview of the UNC System, its operations and leadership development opportunities, according to the release.

"Established in 2019, the Executive Leadership Institute is designed to develop a pipeline of well-prepared, highly qualified future leaders from all institutions in the UNC System," the release stated. "Since the program’s inception, there have been 100 participants, of which 29 have been promoted to leadership positions within the UNC System."

Learning modules aim to deepen executive-level expertise through five interactive, experiential immersion sessions. These will be delivered via a hybrid of virtual and in-person instruction at UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina A&T, and UNC Charlotte. Team and individual executive coaching will be provided in partnership with UNCW, according to the release.
