Michelle McDermott
Michelle McDermott of Sweyer Property Management earned the Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designation, according to a recent news release.

"Obtaining this credential takes her to the next level in property management with the hopes of expanding their multifamily portfolio," the release stated.

The National Apartment Association program includes education and training in minimizing legal risk and liability, regulating agency oversight of assisted housing, annual operating budgets and owner performance objectives, the release stated. The CAPS designation requires a minimum number of years’ experience, 40 hours of course work and testing, and continued education to maintain certification.

McDermott has over 20 years of experience in property management and is considered a strong asset to the Sweyer Property Management team, the release stated. She began her career in Macon, Georgia, where she oversaw acquisitions, disposition, the due diligence team and property repositioning.

She furthered her career in property management with Sweyer in 2010, when she held the title of district manager for multiple communities, lease-up and disposition, marketing, budgeting and multifamily business development.

“As a member of the National Apartment Association for over 15 years, I am excited to complete this designation. My experience supervising apartment communities and on-site teams for over 20 years has been punctuated by this distinguished achievement,” McDermott said in the release. “As the Wilmington market continues to grow, we are meeting first-time multifamily investors and welcoming investors from outside our area to this market."
