Going Beyond The Pink Announces Four New Board Members

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 13, 2022

Going Beyond the Pink, a local breast cancer support organization, has elected four new board members.

The new members are:

  • Janet Tucker, school social worker at Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW). Tucker has volunteered with numerous boards and committtees, including at Cape Fear Academy and for Dolls of Inspiration.
  • Nancy Smith, brand ambassador/community table manager at Lowes Foods. Smith has volunteered with the New Hanover County Friends of the Arboretum Board and served as a youth soccer coach, among other community service roles.
  • Latrice McKoy, master deputy with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office. McKoy has volunteered as a board member for A Safe Place; was the N.C. State Director for R.A.D. Systems of Self-Defense; and is a graduate of the WILMA Leadership Institute.
  • Danielle McIntosh, technical support manager at Live Oak Bank and co-chair of the bank's MPAC (Minority Professional Aligned Communities) Affinity group.

According to Going Beyond the Pink’s Executive Director Kara Kenan, the organization's team is “extremely grateful for these four women's commitment to our breast cancer community. All are strong advocates for Going Beyond the Pink ensuring they are able to offer free access to: needed support resources, health and wellness education, individual and family support and financial assistance to our breast cancer community.”

In 2022, the organization aims to increase its local impact by providing 500 care bags to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, increasing the amount of financial assistance awarded and re-establishing a physical office space in the Wilmington area.
