Wilmington-based internet and IT service provider CloudWyze has named a chief operating officer, according to a news release.
Marty McDermott (pictured at left) is a 25-year veteran of the telecom and technology industry with "a proven track record of driving transformations and creating business value," the release stated.
McDermott’s career spans multiple functions, industries, geographies, and companies, including Teligent, Net2000, China Telecom, MegaPath Networks, Cisco Systems, and Mapcom Systems, where led the transformation of Mapcom Systems as executive vice president of operations. He was also instrumental in in positioning the company for acquisition by VertiGIS (a Battery Venture portfolio holding).
McDermott earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Wingate University. He and his family currently reside in Richmond, Virginia, but will be relocating to Wilmington in the near future.
Josh Easley (pictured at right) joined CloudWyze in the role of cloud engineer. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Easley brings about 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry to the role.
Easley "has a versatile background in telecommunications that provides unique technical expertise to the MSP team. He has two children and will be married in December to Traci, a Wilmington native," the release stated.
After a 20-year career as a meteorologist in the U.S. Air Force, Gene English (pictured below) joined CloudWyze in the role of MSP program coordinator.
Born and raised in Wilmington, English "is attuned to the issues facing the local area and looks forward to helping Cloudwyze clients. During his off time, he enjoys cooking and competing in powerlifting. Gene has two young sons and a daughter who is moving on to college in a year," the release stated.
