Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners recently announced the addition of Kelly Stuart, David Stuart and Michael Abushakra of Carolinas Commercial to its growing team of commercial real estate professionals.

Mark Johnson, executive vice president and sales manager for Sun Coast Partners, said in a news release, “Kelly, David and Michael each bring a very different set of skills from decades of experience. From economic development to small business ownership, they each bring a truly unique perspective to their clients.”

Their education in the professional arena varies from real-world experiences to being a PhD candidate at UNC, according to the release. Grayson Powell, president of CBCSCP,  said in the release, “It’s this variety of backgrounds that make CBCSCP unique in the marketplace. Some brokers spend their whole careers in real estate, while our team has an enormous range of experience in other industries: from engineering to finance to corporate leadership.”

Kelly Stuart started her career in Raleigh as a consultant to the newly formed regional economic development marketing groups in North Carolina, helping them design and execute programs that would equally represent multiple counties with varying needs and resources. She went on to serve in numerous roles, including deputy director of development for the North Carolina Global TransPark, vice president of client development for North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad Partnership, director of recruitment for Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development and assistant director for Brunswick County Economic Development.

A native of North Carolina and longtime resident of Shallotte, Kelly Stuart draws on her experience to help clients navigate local zoning, permitting and construction requirements.  She is a CCIM Candidate, North Carolina Economic Developers Association member, President Elect of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Southeast North Carolina, sits on the NC REALTORS® Economic Development Committee, Cape Fear CREW (Commercial Real Estate for Women) and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Kelly Stuart was recently honored as the Realtors Commercial Alliance Member of the Year at the same time her father and business partner, David Stuart (pictured above), was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Commercial Real Estate.

Before making his way to the South Brunswick Islands, David Stuart was vice president of commercial brokerage and leasing for TradeMark Properties Inc., the sixth largest commercial real estate company in North Carolina. He served as the economic developer for ElectriCities of North Carolina, where he initiated and supported economic development programs to market industrial sites in 31 Eastern North Carolina municipalities.

Abushakra (pictured at left) is the newest team member with Carolinas Commercial and brings with him a background in small business ownership – specifically in the jewelry industry.  Most recently he served on a committee that made recommendations for the Calabash Unified Development Ordinance, and he is also a former chair/co-founder of the Calabash Merchants Association.

Carolinas Commercial has established the first satellite CBCSCP office which is located in Sunset Beach.  Licensed in both North and South Carolina, the Stuarts and Abushakra can serve clients across the Sun Coast Partners region.

They currently represent more than $55 million in retail and mixed-use commercial property in the South Brunswick Islands, including nearly 200,000 square feet of shopping center, medical, retail and professional office properties and sales or development of residential, retail, hotel and hospitality development sites.
