McKinley Building Announces Three Hirings

McKinley Building Corp., a Wilmington-based commercial builder with high-profile projects throughout the area, recently announced three hirings.

Will Gantt (pictured below) was hired as an assistant project manager. Born in Raleigh, Gantt received his bachelor's degree in construction management from East Carolina University. He entered into the construction industry five years ago as a intern with many different responsibilities and roles.

Gantt was in various club organizations in college including AGC (Associated General Contractors of America) and NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). In his free time Gantt enjoys boating, snowboarding, surfing and dirt biking. Gantt has resided in Wilmington for over two years.

Darren Jones (pictured below) was hired as chief estimator. A native of New Bern, Jones received his bachelor’s degree in construction management from East Carolina University as well as serving eight years in the U.S Army.

Jones entered the construction industry over two decades ago as a field laborer and on to various roles as a construction manager. He is a member of the Professional Construction Estimators Association (PCEA), former chair of the Lower Cape Fear Small & Diverse Business Coalition, and Society of The Big Red One.

In his free time, he enjoys playing music, surfing and fine woodworking. Jones resides in Wilmington with his wife and four children.

Andrew Bernard (pictured below) was hired as a project manager. He has 12 years of experience in the construction industry. He started working as an apprentice carpenter in northern Virginia, and since has progressed into roles as a project engineer, assistant superintendent and lead superintendent.

Bernard has completed projects in multifamily, higher education, retirement, assisted living and commercial building. During his career, he has received several certifications for operating heavy equipment, OSHA 30, HVAC Technician, LEED – Green Building and LEAN Construction.

He is a member of AGC of America and Knights of Columbus, and enjoys spending his free time on the water, saltwater fishing and sailing.
