For a second time in 2021, South Atlantic Capital was awarded a PSN Top Guns distinction by Informa Financial Intelligence’s PSN manager database, according to a December news release.

The database is North America’s longest running database of investment managers, including the most well-known industry leading firms, the release stated.

South Atlantic Capital was honored with a 1-Star Top Gun rating for the performance of its Core Equity portfolio (a large, “value” strategy) in the latest quarter, according to the release. The firm has received numerous Top Gun awards over the years, being named a PSN Top Guns Manager of the Decade among all large-cap managers at year-end 2012.

In response to the award, Edward Nowell, South Atlantic’s president and portfolio manager, stated in the December release, “While we are honored to have been recognized twice this year, we are especially pleased to be delivering such competitive performance for our clients who endured a very tough 2020, a period during which traditional blue-chip stocks took a surprising back seat to a narrow set of high-tech names that benefited from the stay-at-home condition of the country. We knew that our portfolio companies, as a group, were performing well on an operational level last year, even though their stock prices were not reflecting it.

"This year has certainly brought some of the price appreciation we feel they deserve.”

Through a combination of Informa Financial Intelligence’s proprietary performance screens, PSN Top Guns ranks products in six proprietary categories in over 50 universes. Top Gun firms are awarded a rating ranging from one to six stars, with the number of stars representing continued performance over time.

South Atlantic Capital’s Core Equity strategy was awarded a Top Gun 1-Star rating, meaning it had one of the top 10 returns for the quarter ended September 30, 2021, in the large-cap value universe.
