The Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced that two of its sales team members are serving on boards, according to a news release.
Molly Johnson, director of convention sales and Joel Smith, senior sales manager, are serving on 2021 travel trade association boards, officials said in the release.
Smith is serving a second term on N.C. Society of Government Meeting Planners' 2021 Board of Directors as second vice president. Smith joined the Wilmington and Beaches CVB in 2017.
Smith was also awarded the NC SGMP Supplier of the Year award for 2020-2021, stated the release.
"The Supplier of the Year Award recognizes one supplier-member who represents excellence in the government meeting planning profession, contributes to chapter events and operations, and works to further the mission of the chapter," officials said in the release.
Johnson is currently serving as the 2021 president-elect for the Southeast Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), a global community and educator for Business Event Strategists. She will serve in this role during 2021, followed by a one-year term as PCMA Southeast Chapter president in 2022, and a one-year term as immediate past president in 2023, stated the release.
Johnson joined the Wilmington and Beaches CVB in 2015.
“We are proud of the professional contributions that Molly and Joel are making to the meeting and group markets through their service to travel trade organizations. Their hard work and recognitions reflect well on our organization and the destination,” said Kim Hufham, president/CEO of the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority (TDA), in the release.
