Cape Fear Community College has welcomed Michael Cobb as vice president of institutional effectiveness, planning and compliance, according to a news release.

In this role at CFCC, Cobb will "implement the College’s strategic plan to achieve the College’s goals and objectives," stated the release.

"He will direct the College’s planning and research activities; direct annual program reviews to comply with local, state, and federal requirements; oversee instructional operations, institutional effectiveness, and institutional compliance; and serve as the institutional liaison to Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSOC) for the College," officials said.

Cobb has more than 26 years of education research and planning experience.

He previously served CFCC as the director of effectiveness and research. Before that, he was director of institutional planning and research with Brunswick Community College.

“Dr. Cobb is a tremendous asset to Cape Fear Community College,” said CFCC President Jim Morton in the release. “His expertise as a researcher will help the college maintain our forward momentum. Dr. Cobb’s responsibilities will include leadership of the College’s planning activities and serving as the liaison for our SASCOC accreditation. He will also oversee our accreditation process, which involves continual long-term analysis and reporting about every college sector. This role is essential to maintain and perpetuate CFCC’s efficiency and growth.”
