Gov. Roy Cooper has appointed Carolyn Craddock to the N.C. Social Work Certification and Licensure Board, according to a news release.

Craddock is a lecturer and assistant field coordinator at the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s School of Social Work, according to the release.

Craddock is also a clinical social worker and addictions specialist, officials said.

"Her extensive clinical and administrative experience in behavioral health includes working in community mental health and crisis services with families, children and adults. She has provided direct clinical practice, supervision and leadership, including the implementation of new services and best practice programs for individuals with mental health, substance use and legal involvement," stated the release.

The mission of the board is to "protect the public by setting standards for qualification, training, and experience for those who seek to represent themselves to the public as certified social workers or licensed clinical social workers and by promoting high standards of professional performance for those engaged in the practice of social work in accordance with the Social Worker Certification and Licensure Act," stated the release.

Craddock also serves as president of the National Association of Social Workers in North Carolina. She earned her master's degree from Boston College and a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech university.
