Wilmington-based nonprofit Canines for Service has welcomed Susan Heaton as CEO, according to a news release.

Heaton brings to the organization a range of operational and development experience in both for-profit and nonprofit industries, stated the release. Canines for Service (CFS) trains and provides service animals for individuals with disabilities in the U.S.

“Susan brings a new level of innovation, organizational and development skills to our organization, as well as a deep passion for helping people and animal welfare. We are extremely pleased to have her on our team," said Ed Sullivan, CFS board chair, in the release.

Heaton was previously director of business development of N.C. State Executive Education, based in the N.C. State University Poole College of Management.

Before that, she held senior roles with organizations such as Daycon Products Co., Green Seal, VitaFlex and Procter & Gamble Co., stated the release.
