WHQR Announces New Board Members

Five new members have been elected to the Friends of Public Radio Inc. Board of Directors, according to a news release.

The elections took place at WHQR's annual meeting in late June. WHQR Public Media is a nonprofit public radio station that broadcasts from Wilmington.

The new members are Andre Brown, an attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Wilmington Office; Joseph Conway, director of health equity and human experience at New Hanover Regional Medical Center; Samantha Dooies, administrative assistant to District Attorney Ben David; Kelly Luckhaus, financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments; and John Scherer, general counsel at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

The new members join current board members Jeff Barnes, chair; Kathleen Berkeley, vice chair; Tim Costello; Brenda Esch, secretary; Christopher Fikry; Stephen Fortlouis, treasurer; Doc Jarden; Jon McLamb; Nicolas Montoya; Kristine Moore; Robert Waxman and Rob Zapple.

Retiring from the board are Hannah Dela Cruz Abrams, Wiley Cash, Fran Scarlett, JC Smith and Geneva Reid.
