New Hanover County Communications Receives National Award

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Nov 13, 2018
New Hanover County’s communications and outreach department has won a national award, according to a news release.

The department was awarded the Silver Circle Award by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) for its strategic plan report, which was a short video that helped promote the highlights of the completed plan that guided the work of the county between July 2012 and June 2017, according to New Hanover County Chief Communications Officer Ruth Ravitz Smith.

“I am proud of our team and their creative and innovative work to create this report,” said Ravitz Smith, in the release. “It tells the county’s story through visuals and a narrative that truly captures New Hanover County’s successes over the last five-year strategic plan.”

The 3CMA’s Savvy Awards recognize local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and relationships with the community.

More than 700 entries in 40 categories were received, according to the release. There were 71 first-place Savvy Awards, 73 second-place Silver Circle Awards and 71 third-place Awards of Excellence presented.
