Community Counseling Center has added a member to its clinical staff.

Susan Lewis has been accepting new clients at the Community Counseling Center since January, according to a news release.

Lewis graduated from Davidson College with honors in psychology and earned her master's of social work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as her master's of divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary, according to the release.

She recently moved to Wilmington with her husband and two children after working in private practice for eight years in Georgia.

“I feel so privileged when clients share their stories with me, especially in a safe and welcoming space like the Community Counseling Center. When they begin to sift through what they’ve been carrying while making new choices about how they want to live the rest of their story, that can be such a gift," Lewis said in the release.

Lewis has served as a psychotherapist for 12 years and has experience working with preteens, adolescents, college students and adults of all ages, according to the Community Counseling Center's website. She offers therapy for individuals, couples and families experiencing grief, depression, anxiety, self-harm tendencies, trauma, history of physical and sexual abuse, relationship issues and issues of faith and spirituality.

“We are excited to welcome Susan to our clinical staff,” Community Counseling Center Executive Director Jonathan Kelley said in the release. “She has such a solid educational background and professional experience. But more than that, she clearly has a heart for the people she works within counseling.”
