Thomas Varnum, a partner in the Wilmington office of the Brooks Pierce firm, was recently presented with the Carl B. Brown Jr. Silent Worker of the Year Award from the Brigade Boys & Girls Club.

The award acknowledges an individual who has performed valuable behind-the-scenes services for the organization without recognition, according to a news release.

Varnum is an intellectual property, entertainment and business lawyer who helped establish Brooks Pierce’s Wilmington practice in 2013. He has been a Brigade Boys & Girls Club board member for four years.

The attorney is also an active member of the organization’s Club of Rising Professionals,  working with children and assisting with fundraising, membership, events, programming and community relations, the release stated.

“I feel grateful to be able to contribute to an organization that positively impacts the lives of so many children,” Varnum said in the release. “Brigade Boys & Girls Club allows me to give back to our community and help our youth succeed. I look forward to watching the organization grow and benefit many more children in our region.“
