2019 Health Care Heroes Award Winners Announced

The Health Care Heroes award winners were announced Friday night during a ceremony at the Country Club of Landfall.
 
Charlie Hardy, founding dean of UNCW’s College of Health and Human Services, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
 
Recipients were also honored for excellence in 10 categories in the awards from the Greater Wilmington Business Journal. Each category had three finalists, and the following were chosen as the overall winners:
 
COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT: CHRISTY SPIVEY, administrator for regional services with New Hanover Regional Medical Center
 
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: OLIVIA RICE, breastfeeding peer counselor for Chocolate Milk of Wilmington
 
FIRST RESPONDER: DAVID DUDDING, battalion chief for Pender EMS & Fire
 
HEALTH CARE EXECUTIVE: CAROL NORTHUP, vice president of patient care services and CNO/COO for Dosher Memorial Hospital
 
PHYSICIAN: WILLIAM HOPE, general surgery residency program director with NHRMC
 
HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL: DEANNA CRESCENZI, telemetry monitor technician with NHRMC
 
INNOVATION: JOSEPH PINO, SEAHEC executive director; associate dean and campus director for UNC School of Medicine Wilmington campus; and vice president of graduate medical education at NHRMC
 
NURSE PRACTITIONER/PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT: VICTORIA OXENDINE, manager of ambulatory services with NHRMC
 
NURSE: MANDY O’HARA, director of patient care services for Lower Cape Fear Hospice
 
VOLUNTEER: LOGAN JONES, junior volunteer at Pender Memorial Hospital
