A 120-room SpringHill Suites across from Mayfaire Town Center at 1014 Ashes Drive is slated to open this month.

Owned and managed by Cary-based Parks Hospitality Group, the hotel property will operate as a Marriott franchise, officials said.

The hotel is geared toward business and leisure travelers alike, with a modern décor, business center, outdoor swimming pool and fire pits, about 1,250 square feet of meeting space and other amenities.

“The refreshing blend of style and space that the brand represents will be evident as guests enter the lobby and then their suite,” said Kip Damrow, Wilmington/Mayfaire SpringHill Suites by Marriott regional director of sales. “The physical design/layout of the space in each suite is unique to any other all-suite hotel in Wilmington.”

The hotel’s management team is made of industry professionals from the Wilmington market. General manager Steve King is a former general manager of Courtyard Wilmington-Wrightsville Beach, and its sales manager Lane Cuthrell was the executive meeting manager with Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire.

Damrow served three terms as the Wilmington Area Hospitality Association president. Previously, he worked as the area director of sales for the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire as well as the Courtyard Wilmington.

Damrow said the new property boasts some distinctive features that will partner the hotel with other local businesses. One is a package that targets travelers with pets.

“While the hotel doesn’t permit pets, we will be offering a very unique pet package partnering with Atlantic Animal Hospital Pet Care Resort, which is located around the corner from the hotel,” Damrow explained.

Additionally, local craft beers will be available in the hotel’s lobby bar, while locally produced artisanal foods will be available for guest purchase. Located near the Terraces on Sir Tyler event venue, the hotel will offer group rates to the venue’s patrons and will host events supporting the local arts, Damrow said.

While details for the hotel’s first Art Night are still under wraps, Damrow said the event would  “promote the vibrant arts scene in Wilmington – it will be a night to remember.”

The Mayfaire-area SpringHill Suites by Marriott marks the brand’s 13th North Carolina location.
