More buildings are on the way to the Wilmington development that includes The Pointe at Barclay, the movie theater-anchored dining and entertainment center at Independence Boulevard and South 17th Street.

Up next for the project, Cameron Management plans to build a sixth retail building facing Independence Boulevard and office buildings on the southeast side of Gallery Park Boulevard, adjacent to The Pointe.

The company is currently working on securing an anchor tenant for the first office building.

"We will not build it until we have it significantly pre-leased, 50 percent or more," said Hill Rogers, broker in charge of Wilmington-based Cameron Management.

A dining and entertainment complex with a 14-screen Stone Theatres movie theater, The Pointe at Barclay is under development by Cameron Management and Collett, a Charlotte retail development firm.

The sixth retail building, Building No. 4 in the company's site plans, so far is expected to include I Love Juice Bar, Club Pilates and Waxing in the City, with 3,000 square feet left that could hold a potential breakfast or gourmet burger concept, Rogers said.

"We’ve been fortunate. There’s been a lot of pent-up demand in this infill location," Rogers said of the lease-up at The Pointe.

Building No. 9 near Independence Boulevard includes a Starbucks with a drive-through that is expected to open this year, an office for Intracoastal Realty, and a potential hair salon. If the salon signs on, there will be 1,100 square feet remaining in the structure. Zoes Kitchen had been an anticipated tenant, but is no longer planning to open a location at The Pointe.

While the Starbucks building will be upfitted by tenants soon, the 9,100-square-foot Building No. 10 closer to the movie theater is under construction and expected to hold a Which Wich sandwich shop location, Orange Theory Fitness, Sports Clips and Nori Asian Fusion and Sushi Bar.

Tenants currently open at The Pointe in addition to the movie theater are Duck Donuts, Zocalo Street Food & Tequila, Far from France and Tavern on 17th.

An adjacent apartment community, Element Barclay, developed by Cameron Management and Childress Klein, is eventually expected to hold 400 apartments. The clubhouse and pool are complete, and leasing has begun.
