One Wilmington startup is set to present at the DIG SOUTH Tech Summit in Charleston, South Carolina, this week as part of the Wild Pitch event.

Electronic Lab Logs, a health care startup that has developed a cloud-based platform for laboratory maintenance, was chosen to participate in the pitch event, which is aimed at helping startups “connect with investors, hire top talent, and get deals done,” according to the DIG SOUTH website.

Daniel Summers, CEO and founding partner of Electronic Lab Logs, will be presenting at the in-person summit on Friday.

Summers said he was motivated to participate in the pitch event because DIG SOUTH is a  tech hub in the South.

“I am very excited to share the news of our latest growth and network with others attending the event,” Summers said in an email.

During the presentation, Summers said he hopes that attendees are able to see that the health care tech market is “ripe for growth.”

“Electronic records are now the preferred method for documentation, and we are poised to capitalize on that,” he said. “Virtual inspections are also a new norm for many of the accrediting bodies, and using an electronic solution like LabLogs.co sets these labs to be able to share reports with auditors in seconds.”

Many startups participate in pitch events as a way to network and gain resources.

“We’re hoping to share our story with others, and we hope to find investors and partners to help us scale,” Summers said.

While Wilmington startup Reignlist was also chosen to participate in the pitch event, Chief Operating Officer Patrick Brown said he is unable to attend but was asked to apply again for the spring event.

Electronic Lab Logs was founded in 2018 and has received a $50,000 grant from the NC IDEA SEED program. It was also a winner in the Health Care category of the Coastal Entrepreneurs Award in 2020. Additionally, the startup received the third-place award in the inaugural NC BIONEER Venture Challenge.

The DIG SOUTH Tech Summit is at the Sottile Theatre at the College of Charleston, and it starts Wednesday and goes through Friday.
