Shannon Lanier, communications manager for Ward and Smith law firm, recently was elected to the Legal Marketing Association Southeastern Region board of directors.
 
The association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs, representing the interests and maintaining the professional standards of individuals involved in business development, marketing, public relations and internal communications, event planning, web and creative services in the legal profession, according to a news release.
 
The Southeastern Region covers nine states with more than 500 members.
 
Lanier, who is based in Wilmington, also has served in other roles for the association, including as Raleigh City Group Chair and Regional Conference Planning Committee.
