Popular athletic brand Lululemon, along with a women’s clothing store for sizes 10 to 24 and a Pinterest-inspired creative arts studio, are three of the latest tenants coming to Mayfaire Town Center.

The Mayfaire store by Lululemon Athletica Inc. (NASDAQ: LULU) will be a pop-up, a temporary tenant, at 6863 Main St. next to Claire’s. The global retailer sells technical gear for running, training, yoga and more.

The Lululemon pop-up is expected to open in October, said Paige Coniglio, Mayfaire spokeswoman, and remain at Mayfaire for at least a year if not more.

"Our hope is that they will stay permanently," Coniglio said Tuesday.

Arula, a brand of existing Mayfaire tenant Altar’d State, is under construction in the former Justice space at 6861 Main St. Children’s clothing retailer Justice closed there last year, and it was temporarily home to Going Local, an artisan gift shop and gallery.

Arula started out as A'Beautiful Soul, a label for Altar'd State, before evolving into its own brand, according to Arula’s website.

Arula is expected to open its Mayfaire Town Center location in November, Coniglio said. The store is currently hiring; prospective employees can find more information online, go by the Altar'd State store at 6849 Main St. in Mayfaire or contact [email protected].

The creative arts studio coming to the shopping center, Pinspiration, gives artists and crafters the space and tools necessary to achieve trending projects.

Owner Sonja Cook of Wilmington said she doesn't have a definitive opening date right now but hopes to begin welcoming artists before the end of the year.

“Each maker is supplied [with] all the materials needed to make an individual project, on-the-spot. Makers work at their own pace from easy-to-follow tutorials, so there's no need to register for a class,” according to a description of Pinspiration on Mayfaire’s website. “Make what you want, when you want it! But, yes, assistance is available, if desired. Select a project from several of our current options and go home with your completed, handmade project, ready to be enjoyed.”

Pinspiration is opening in the space previously occupied by Portrait Innovations at 865 Inspiration Drive.

“So let me give you three reasons why I like this space. First off, the location,” Cook said in a video posted on the store’s Facebook page. "It’s in a great shopping district and what better name than Inspiration Drive to be on.

“Another reason why I like this space is for the big beautiful windows. It allows for a lot of natural light, which is a key to creativity… the third reason why I like this location is for the huge space inside that’s going to allow for a lot of fun, a lot of creativity and just a great time together.”

Cook graduated from the University of Montevallo with a bachelor's degree in art and completed her master's degree in art therapy at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Cook has taught art history online at Central Texas College and art classes for both children and adults.

"Pinspiration was introduced to me by a friend who knew with my background that it would be a good fit," Cook said. "The more I learned about Pinspiration, the more I just fell in love with the concept of having everything somebody might need to create a trending project, and I thought, 'Why not?' I was sure that I wasn’t the only one who wished that they had quick resources at hand to create what they were seeing on Pinterest or Facebook."

With nearly 2,000 square feet, the Wilmington Pinspiration will also have a VIP room for birthday parties, corporate events, bridal showers, baby showers or other events, she said.

Other new tenants for Mayfaire have been announced this year. They include Buff City Soap, a handmade soap store expected to open around the Christmas holidays at 1039 International Drive next to First Watch.
