Shoppers at Mayfaire Town Center now have the option to patronize a Lily Pulitzer retail store, according to an announcement Thursday.

A store that sold the resort wear brand at the center, Palm Garden, recently transitioned from a Lily Pulitzer signature store into a retail store, a news release stated.

Palm Garden owner Beverly Cook explained the change in a Facebook post.

"For over 20 years, I have been lucky to be able to provide you with a place to shop for all your Lilly Pulitzer needs. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many of you, and I consider a lot of you friends. You have remained loyal to Palm Garden through years of change, as well as countless hurricanes! I am and will be forever grateful for that.

"Now the time has come for another big change. In November, I am retiring from retail, and Palm Garden will be transitioning to a Lilly Pulitzer corporate store."

Lily Pulitzer, headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, sells brightly colored clothing, jewelry and other accessories.

"We thank Beverly Cook and Palm Garden for over 20 incredible years and look forward to welcoming long-time customers and those who are coming in for the first time," the release stated.

The store is located in the center at 6804 Main St.

“We are very excited to welcome the new Lilly Pulitzer retail store," stated Kurt Bohlmann, general manager of Mayfaire in the release. “It’s a pleasure to bring our customers more of what they love.”

Cook said in her Facebook post, "This will be so exciting for Wilmington and its surrounding areas, and I am happy that you will be able to continue to shop locally (and in such a fun way) for your Lilly Pulitzer. You will continue to see many of the familiar faces that have been at Palm Garden, but you will also meet and get to know some awesome new people as well."
