End Of Days Distillery Gains New Accolades, Releases New Spirits

By Jessica Maurer, posted Nov 25, 2020
End of Days Distillery, 1815 Castle St., has announced that it is the recipient of several new awards.

The distillery’s Port of Entry series rum and gin both received Double Gold medals at the SIP Awards International Spirits Competition, and Port of Entry Vodka was named NC Vodka of the year at the New York International Spirits Competition.

The SIP Awards provide a unique competition for spirits brands to gain exposure, feedback and recognition from unbiased consumers, according to a news release.

"As the only blind-tasting competition of its kind, the SIP Awards offers a fair platform for top brands to showcase their products to their most discerning audience," the release stated. "In the face of the global pandemic, SIP Awards 2020 created a revolutionary digital experience and hit a record-breaking 482 consumer judges who evaluate spirits in the comfort and safety of their own homes. With more judges providing feedback, this provided a much more accurate and broader rating method for each of the spirit and mixer brands evaluated."

The New York International Spirits Competition is the only competition in the world where all the judges are trade buyers who are judging the spirit by its category and price. The 11th annual NYISC took place virtually and included over 1,200 spirits from 60 different categories and 30 countries.

“Winning these awards is such an honor and it speaks to the quality of the products we offer,” said End of Days Distillery founder Shane Faulkner. “We are humbled by the industry expert recognition, but the feedback we receive from our local customers, friends, and family is it what continually drives us to create premium hand-crafted products.”

End of Days has also announced the release of their Castaway Series Barrel Rested Gin and Barrel Rested Rum just in time for the holiday season.

The products will be released for in-store pickup beginning Nov. 27, Black Friday. Customers can begin placing online orders at www.eoddistillery.com on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

A limited number of bottles will be available for pick-up when the distillery opens to the public at 11 a.m. Friday.

Faulkner said the distillery is currently aging whiskey and has plans to release additional products shortly.

Tastings and tours are available by appointment through the distillery’s website and The Lounge at End of Days distillery is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with social distancing and masks required.
