Poplar Grove Reschedules Brews, Bourbon And BBQ Event

The 2020 Kentucky Derby has been rescheduled to Saturday, Sept. 5, and Poplar Grove Plantation is ready to party in style with its Brews, Bourbon and BBQ event.

For the Poplar Grove Party on Sept. 5, the gates open at 4 p.m., and guests are invited to dress up or dress down, but come ready to enjoy bites from a variety of local food trucks and libations from the beer and wine garden as well as signature mint juleps.

The event is scheduled include music from Folkstone Stringband, and live coverage of the race from Churchill Downs.

There will be a High Flutin’ Best Dressed Couple contest, a Low Down & Dirty Shame Couple contest, and a Big Hat Best Hat contest, where contestants will compete for bottles of Woodford Reserve, Larceny and Maker’s Mark bourbons.

The festivities is also set to include lawn games and raffles to raise money for the Poplar Grove stables.

Tickets are $5 for adults and children are free. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, but coolers are not permitted.
