The Southport Rotary Club and the Southport Evening Rotary Club are hosting an evening of community and cuisine on Saturday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Supply Senior Center.
The Chefs of Brunswick has been organized in conjunction with Rotary Clubs of South Brunswick Isles, Shallotte and Leland. The net proceeds from the event will benefit the charities supported by all five Brunswick County Rotary Clubs and the Rotary Foundation of Southport.
The goal of the event, said organizer Shawn Braswell, is to raise money and awareness for the Rotary Foundation and its beneficiaries, and to promote the Brunswick County food and beverage scene.
Some of the inaugural event’s participants include: Burney’s Bakery, Cape Fear Seafood Company, Moore St. Oyster Bar, Oliver’s on The Cape Fear, Red Hare Brewery, Silver Coast Winery, The Joyce Irish Pub and The Southport Cheese Shoppe.
Tickets are $10 per person, and each guest will receive five tokens that can be exchanged for sample portions of each vendor’s offering. Each ticket will also provide entry to numerous door prizes provided by local businesses, and additional tokens can be purchased on-site for $2 per token.
The vendor who collects the most tokens throughout the evening will be given a trophy (pictured above) and granted bragging rights.
“We’ve had a great response so far from vendors and local businesses as well as in regards to ticket sales,” Shawn Braswell said.
Some of the Rotary Club’s charity partners that will benefit from the event include Hope Harbor Home, Brunswick County Family Assistance, Brunswick County Schools and SMART Start, New Hope Clinic and the Boys & Girls Home.
