Haven’t made plans for Valentine’s Day yet? Several local restaurants have created special menus for the evening, and here’s a sampling of what can be found around town.
Kornerstone Bistro, 8262 Market St., is offering a special menu featuring a la carte items or a choice of three courses for $50 per person, with a glass of champagne for an additional $5. Appetizer selections include lobster bisque, oysters Rockefeller, pear and pecorino ravioli, and a humble root salad with beets and baked goat cheese. Entrees include crispy Springer Mountain chicken, Creekstone Farms braised short ribs, and pan seared N.C. grouper. For dessert guests will have a choice of several cakes from Sugar Island Bakery. 8207 Noma, 8207 Market St., Ste. F, is offering a four-course menu for $70 per person. Selections include choice of soup or salad, a second course of lobster ravioli with a champagne cream sauce or a meat, cheese and fruit plate. Entree choices include grilled filet mignon with shrimp, roasted Portobello and crab fettuccine, or cedar plank scallops. South Beach Grill, 100 S. Lumina Ave. in Wrightsville Beach, is offering several Valentine’s specials to which will be available throughout the weekend. A sampling of the additional items includes: Scallops Maison-Boro, an appetizer of sea scallops, crispy pork belly and butternut squash prepared as a hash and served with house made bacon jam, arugula, leeks and a balsamic reduction, Low Country Bouillabaisse with locally sourced fish, shrimp, clams and calamari simmered in a smoked tomato broth, and Chef Mike’s chicken and waffles with fresh herb grits, braised greens and hot honey. Oceanic, 703 S. Lumina Ave. in Wrightsville Beach is offering a number of Valentine’s specials that will be available Feb.13-16 and include oysters on the half shell, filet mignon or NY strip steaks with champagne-lobster butter and crispy gremolata, and NC black bass with pineapple salsa, a citrus vinaigrette and an herbed risotto cake. The Basics at the Cotton Exchange will offer a menu with several appetizer and entree choices for $35 per person or $50 per person with wine pairings. Appetizer options include fried local oysters with jalapeno aioli, beef carpaccio with arugula, parmesan reggiano, caper berries and garlic aioli, and a beet caprese salad with field greens, mozzarella, basil and balsamic. Entrees include blackened flat iron steak with a blue cheese-scallion butter and cauliflower puree, pistachio encrusted scallops over fettuccine, duck confit with blackberry gastrique and a puff pastry stuffed with potato and herbed goat cheese. Second St., is featuring a multi-course prix-fix menu for $65 per person, which includes a poached NC oyster with chorizo and pecorino bread crumbs, a salad Nicoise, roasted prawns with saffron rice, lobster Bolognese, aged duck breast, chateaubriand with butternut squash, and sticky toffee pudding.
