'Tis The Season For Holiday Brews

Area brewers are incorporating the flavors of the holidays into their seasonal brews, with many available in growlers, bottles and cans to serve or give as gifts. Here’s a roundup of what’s on tap:
 
Broomtail Craft Brewery: Jolly Elf: 8.9% ABV, a malt forward brew with holiday spices and tart cherries. Available in 22 oz. bottles as well as on draft at the brewery’s tasting room, The Sour Barn, and restaurants and bottle shops around town.
 
Salty Turtle Beer Company: Turtle Tinsel: 7% ABV, a Christmas ale with flavors of ginger and cinnamon married with sweet, local honey from Shaken Creek Farms creates a cozy brew that's perfect for a holiday oyster roast or family get-together.
 
New Anthem Beer Project: Roadside Prophet: 8.9% ABV, an imperial stout with chilies, cocoa nibs, vanilla, and cinnamon. Now available in 16 oz. cans.
 
Bill’s Brewing Company: Christmas Pants, 8.9% ABV, this full-bodied brown ale brewed with sorghum, mace, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel brewed with nutmeg, allspice, sorghum and orange peel is a holiday tradition at Bill’s. Folks are encouraged to show off their Christmas pants while enjoying a pint at the brewery. Also on tap, Jim's Breakfast Stout, 9.1% ABV, a strong imperial stout made with toasted oats, Vermont Grade-A maple syrup, cold pressed Sumatran espresso and cocoa powder.
 
Waterline Brewing: Elderberry Hefe, 5.5% ABV, a delightful way to fend off those nasty winter colds.
 
Ironclad Brewery: Zola Chai Brown, 6.9% ABV, a winter favorite, this brown ale showcases ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, clove and black tea and was created in partnership with Zola Coffee & Tea, located at Pomegranate Books, 4418 Park. Ave.
 
Flytrap Brewing: Cranberry Saison, 6.8% ABV, a classic saison aged on over a half pound of whole cranberries per gallon. Also to be released Dec. 12, a Belgian Chocolate Stout fermented with the house strain of Belgian yeast and aged on Dominican cacao. Both are available on draft and in bottles. Flytrap will be hosting a holiday market presented by Artisan Locale from 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 14.
