In Downtown Wilmington, New Option For Healthy Fast Food

Shawn Blair, owner of Nutrition Revolution, has opened a second location named Downtown Nutrition ILM, inside the Wells Building at 240 Princess St.

Blair worked with MoMentum Companies Inc. to find the right location for the downtown extension of her health food business.

“This is something that was definitely needed downtown - a quick, healthy grab-n-go option,” she said.

Blair is veteran of the United States Navy, where she served as a hospital corpsman with the Marines at Camp Lejeune. She credits her military service with her leadership and business skills.

Educated in health and physical education at Southeastern Louisiana University, she felt as though a role in education would provide her the opportunity to make a difference at the local level and in the global obesity epidemic.

But when she returned to North Carolina in 2009, she was unable to find a job in the local school system and decided to shift her focus to leading a 12-week weight loss challenge and wellness education.

That would eventually lead to the launch of Nutrition Revolution, 5101 Dunlea Court, and now Downtown Nutrition ILM, which specialize in nutritious meal replacement smoothies and clean herbal energy drinks. Each nutrient-rich smoothie contains around 200 calories, is low in sugar and fat, and has 24 grams of high-quality, plant-based protein. The smoothies are served with a shot of aloe and an unsweetened green tea – a three-drink combo.

Both locations also serve protein bars, sugar-free energy drinks, and a variety of supplements, and offer wellness profiles and education to help customers meet their health and wellness goals.

Downtown Nutrition ILM will host a mayoral grand opening at noon Dec. 17, sponsored by the Downtown Business Alliance and Wilmington Downtown Inc.
