National Pi Day will be celebrated around the world Thursday, and while the day (3/14/2019) honors the mathematical constant 3.14, it has also prompted some local pizzerias to offer $3.14 pies.

Your Pie, 4403 Oleander Drive, will celebrate with a Hollywood-themed event featuring $3.14 pizzas all day, as well as bounce-backs and giveaways throughout the day.

This year’s event, “Your Pi(e) Day 2019: The Premiere Event of the Season,” is inspired by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At each store, guests will stroll the Your Pie Walk of Fame and enjoy games and giveaways while in line.

“For our team, Pi(e) Day really does feel like a highly anticipated blockbuster release, and we’re excited to leverage that level of excitement and enthusiasm to create an unforgettable experience for our guests,” said Your Pie founder and president Drew French.

Since its inception, Pi(e) Day has become one of Your Pie’s highest foot traffic days.

“We’re very excited to host Pi Day,” said local Your Pie owner, Jada Baker. “It’s a great opportunity for people who haven’t tried Your Pie to see what we’re all about. We’re expecting a high volume and hope to give everyone a great experience.”

Blaze Pizza, 915 Military Cutoff Rd., is offering a discount code for $3.14 pies to those who download the Blaze mobile app before March 14. Blaze, which opened across from Mayfaire Town Center in December, celebrated its grand opening with free pies for all who followed them on social media.

Like Your Pie, Blaze features an interactive, open kitchen that allows guests to customize the menu’s signature personal pizzas or create their own, with individual pizzas typically priced around $8.

And local Mellow Mushroom locations, 4311 Oleander Dr. and 224 Causeway Drive in Wrightsville Beach, will also offer $3.14 small pies to those who have signed up for the mobile app and receive notifications via text or email.
