Anne Bonny’s Bar and Grill will reopen Friday for a second season aboard The Barge on the Riverwalk in downtown Wilmington.

Many walking the Riverwalk may have noticed the absence of The Barge this winter as it has been in dry dock for maintenance since early December.

“It’s been all hands on deck since The Barge returned,” said operating partner Madison Vithalani, who runs Anne Bonny’s along with fellow partners Steve Gaconnier, Justin Smith and Mike Webber. “The feedback we received during our opening season last year was overwhelmingly positive and we were busier than we could have expected, having received a ton of support from both locals and tourists.”

Anne Bonny’s will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until March 14, when it will be open seven days a week for the season.

With a new chef and kitchen manager, Vithalani said she expects a few additions to the menu, as well as a few new cocktails, but wants to reassure guests that favorites such as the giant soft pretzels, Calabash seafood and buffalo shrimp will remain on the menu, as will the rocket fuel cocktail and the frozen rosé.

“We will be operating with a somewhat limited menu for the first few weekends, until our crew is fully up to speed and we are open every day,” Vithalani said. “We can’t thank Wilmington enough for all the support and can’t wait to re-open.”
