As recovery begins and power is restored, many area restaurants are assessing damage, beginning repairs and opening their doors following several days of closure in the wake of Hurricane Florence.
Many are open for limited hours because of limited staff and imposed curfews. Most are serving limited menus. Some are only able to accept cash, while others are operating on donations and providing free meals to first responders and those in need.
Rebellion NC served free meals to first responders outside its Front Street location on Monday, as did Mac’s Speed Shop (pictured below) on Oleander Drive and Peño Mediterranean Grill on South College Road on Tuesday. Vittles Food Truck has been making the rounds to feed utility crews working to restore power to the area.
Operation BBQ Relief, a disaster response organization that mobilizes to feed those impacted by storms such as Florence, arrived in Wilmington earlier this week, with the capability of feeding thousands daily.
Social media sites such as Facebook are allowing businesses to keep customers posted on their operation status. Facebook groups, such as ILM Foodie Alerts and Should I Eat There? –Wilmington Area Restaurant Reviews, also provide up to date information on openings.
Among the restaurants currently are Sweet n Savory Cafe, Magnolia Social Cafe, Tequila Comida & Cantina, S&L Deli, Fish Bites, Moe’s Original BBQ, The Sawmill Restaurant, Nawab Indian Cusine, Indochine and The Lunch Box.
