A family-owned bottle shop specializing in beer, wine and cigars opened this weekend at 15010 U.S. 17 N. in Hampstead.
Leaf & Barrel Provision Co., owned and operated by Jerry and Jeremy Coy, Jim Brekhus and David Blackwell, carries a wide variety of beer and wine, as well as fine cigars.
Leaf & Barrel contains a walk-in beer cooler as well as a walk-in cigar humidor. There are 18 rotating taps at the bar, which includes a family-friendly, pet-friendly lounge area.
“We want this to be more than just a store,” David Blackwell said. “We want it to be a place for people in the area to meet up and hang out.”
Blackwell said the four owners have talked about opening a business for a while, and when some of the family relocated to Hampstead, they saw a need for a shop with a great beer and wine selection, as well as a gathering space for people to enjoy a drink or a cigar.
“We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel,” Blackwell said. “We just and to bring something that we enjoy to the people of Hampstead.”
In addition to the indoor gathering space, Leaf & Barrel has an outdoor patio and will occasionally feature live music. A grand opening celebration is planned for the weekend of Sept. 14.
