In search of an addition to your breakfast lineup? Several Port City eateries are serving up some pretty amazing egg sandwiches to kick-start your day.

Duck Donuts, 1611 Dusty Miller Lane and 6801 Parker Farm Rd., recently announced a spicy upgrade to its OBX Donut Breakfast Sandwich, which starts with a warm sliced donut stuffed with a choice of egg, cheese, sausage or bacon, and topped with a maple drizzle and chopped bacon. Those looking to add some heat to this sweet and salty combo can now add a drizzle of Texas Pete hot sauce. The term “hot mess” comes to mind, but in the best possible sense.

Another sandwich that will spice up your morning routine is the Jalapeno Business at Beach Bagels, 7220 Wrightsville Ave. and 5906 Oleander Dr. This spicy combo includes egg, chorizo sausage, pimento cheese, onions and – of course – jalapenos, on the toasted bagel of your choice. The creamy pimento cheese and fluffy eggs balance the heat of the chorizo and jalapenos, creating a craveable combo that’s sure to kick breakfast up a notch.

Rise Biscuits Donuts, 1319 Military Cutoff Rd., is serving up a smoked pork, collard green and black pepper milk gravy biscuit that manages to hit every flavor profile. The pork is both smoky and sweet, a perfect counterpart to the bitterness of the greens. The biscuit is fluffy and light and the silky gravy provides a fantastic creaminess without being too heavy. Add a buttery fried egg to this and you’ll have a sandwich you’ll be longing to eat time and again.

Round Bagels & Donuts, 890 S. Kerr Ave., is home of The Frencheggenator, a French toast (or cinnamon raisin) bagel filled with two eggs, bacon and maple syrup. This sandwich is a luscious mix of sweet and savory with plenty of crisp bacon and just the right amount of maple syrup. It has all the satisfying flavor of a plate of gooey French toast and bacon in a compact, grab-n-go sandwich.

Which one will be your new favorite egg sandwich?
