Epicurean Grille Offers New Events And Weekend Brunch

A little more than a month after transitioning from The Pub at Sweet n’ Savory to Epicurean Grille, owner Rob Shapiro has a new lineup of nightly events and specials designed to promote the restaurant’s mission to  “be a luxurious indulgence of the sensual pleasures of food and beverage.”

All menu items at Epicurean Grille, 2012 Eastwood Road, are under $20 because Shapiro said he believes that everyone should be able to enjoy a delicious meal without spending a fortune. And now with nightly specials on everything from food to beer, wine and cocktails, a diner's dollar goes even further.

On Sunday, the restaurant offers its signature steak for $10 (regularly $17), and on Mondays, fresh local grouper with a white cheddar grit cake and spinach is $12 and all flatbreads are half-price. Sunday nights also feature a super premium wine tasting. For $15, guests can sample five fine wines that retail for between $50 and $300 a bottle, allowing people to try various wines that they might not normally try because of the higher price point. The theme changes weekly, sometimes focusing on a region or varietal, or sometimes a comparison of vintages from the same producer.  The tasting can be enjoyed tableside along with a meal or at the bar.

Tuesday is date night, where couples can enjoy a European-style dining experience that includes a free appetizer and dessert with the purchase of two entrees. The food is served at a leisurely pace to allow for relaxation and conversation.

Wednesday is kids and beer night, where kids eat for just a dollar and all draft beer is $2 off. Wednesday night’s menu also offers 11 meals for $11 each. After all said Shapiro, “parents shouldn’t have to eat crappy food when dining out with their kids or always have a babysitter in order to eat out.”

A mixology class is held at the bar from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday nights, with a new cocktail featured each week. The class is $5 and includes tastings of the components of the cocktail and finished product, as well as a coupon for $5 off any food purchase that evening. There are also three prix-fixe (fixed price) meals on Thursdays, priced at $18, $21 and $24 for three courses.

Friday is teacher appreciation night, with a $1 appetizer menu from 3:30 to 6 for all teachers with valid school ID.

And brunch is now served on both Saturday and Sunday, with a dozen breakfast items as well as lunch fare served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Brunch also features special pricing on cocktails such as Bloody Marys and mimosas.

Shapiro said the dining room continues to evolve, and a semi-private dining room will be completed shortly, in time for holiday gatherings.
