G’s Pizzeria and Wings (originally to be named Mr. G’s Pizzeria) is scheduled to open June 15 at 1051 S. College Road.

Mark Giardina and his wife, Debbie, along with their sons, operate pizzerias in Miami and Ohio and are now bringing the recipes of Mark Giardina’s grandfather, Francisco Giardina, or "Mr. G" as he was known, to Wilmington.

Pizza dough, sauces, meatballs and dishes such as lasagna and eggplant Parmesan are made from scratch. Even the cheese is shredded in house.

G’s Pizzeria makes two types of pizza dough, one that yields a thin and crispy, New York-style crust and another, the traditional crust, with a bit more body. The menu features a variety of gourmet pies, as well as build-your-own, and half and full sheet pizzas designed to be cut in squares to feed a crowd. Pizza is also available by the slice. Other menu items include calzones, hot subs, appetizers, soup and salads and wings.

An item the Giardinas are betting will be popular with the college crowd is Mr. G’s house fries, a basket of fries smothered with mozzarella cheese, garlic and Italian spices.

The Giardinas say one of their best selling items in Ohio is the Family Combo Pack, which includes a large, one-topping pizza, a bucket of wings, a two-liter Pepsi and garlic bread for $32.50.

In addition to dine-in, carryout and delivery service, G’s will offer a catering menu for on-site and off-site catering.

“We offer full-service catering, with everything from the tables to the tableware, whatever the customer needs,” Mark Giardina said.

Catering items include sandwich trays, side dishes, pasta, salads, and entrées such as baked Italian chicken.

G’s also offers daily all-you-can-eat spaghetti special for $9.99 with soup or a salad, and several $4.99 lunch specials that include two slices of cheese pizza and a drink, one slice of cheese pizza and a salad, or a soup and salad combo.

G’s Pizzeria and Wings will be open 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and until 12:30 a.m., or possibly later, Friday and Saturday.
