Bluewater Waterfront Grill To Host Pineapple Guild Fundraising Dinner

By Jessica Maurer, posted Apr 12, 2017
Bluewater Waterfront Grill will host the 8th annual Pineapple Guild Fundraiser on April 19. The event benefits Cape Fear Community College Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts students, The Pineapple Guild and the N.C. Hospitality Education Foundation scholarship program.

The Pineapple Guild is a CFCC club comprised of culinary and hospitality management students. The group holds various food service fundraisers to support an annual trip to the National Restaurant Association Expo in Chicago. Additionally, the club provides social and professional contacts for students.

N.C. Hospitality Education Foundation is the philanthropic foundation of the N.C. Restaurant & Lodging Association and works to enhance the hospitality industry’s service to the public through education, community engagement and promotion of career opportunities.

The dinner involves CFCC students creating a three-course menu in collaboration with Bluewater chef Jeff Scott and their instructor, Diane Withrow. The students will prep, cook, host and serve dinner to guests in Bluewater’s private event space. The students run the service from start to finish and all of the proceeds benefit the scholarships and student organizations.

“This is our favorite fundraiser of the year,” said Scott Weikert, district manager of LM Restaurants Inc., the hospitality group that manages Bluewater. “We recruit a lot of students from CFCC, and being able to help raise funds for scholarships and competition travel is the least we can do support their education.”

The dinner is $40 per person and includes three courses and two glasses of wine. Seatings are at 6 and 6:30 p.m., and reservations can be made on the CFCC Our Place Restaurant website or by calling 362-7072.
