Mr. G’s Pizzeria Coming To Town

Mark Giardina, co-owner of the soon-to-be Mr. G’s Pizzeria at 1051 S. College Road, comes from a long line of pizzeria owners.

His uncles opened their first pizzeria in New York City, followed by another in Buffalo. Giardina and his wife, Debbie, along with their sons, operate pizzerias in Miami and Ohio and are now bringing the recipes of Mark Giardina’s grandfather, Francisco Giardina, or Mr. G as he was known, to Wilmington.

Mark Giardina said Mr. G’s uses all the old family recipes and serves up gigantic portions of the Italian classics. Pizza dough, sauces, meatballs and dishes such as lasagna and eggplant Parmesan are all made from scratch. Even the cheese is shredded in house.

He describes Mr. G’s pizza as authentic New York, thin-crust pizza. The menu will feature a variety of gourmet pies as well as build-your-own. There will also be calzones, hot and cold subs, appetizers, soup and salads and wings.

One of the most popular items in Ohio during football season is the Family Combo Pack, which includes a large, one-topping pizza, a bucket of hot wings, a two-liter Pepsi and garlic bread for $29.50.

In addition to dine-in, carryout and delivery service, Mr. G’s will offer an extensive catering menu for on-site and off-site catering.

Renovations will begin shortly, and Mark Giardina anticipates an early March opening.

Mr. G's website includes more details and the full menu for the Ohio location.
