Special guest chef Vivian Howard of Chef and the Farmer and chef Keith Rhodes of Catch will headline an upcoming food lover’s extravaganza on the Cape Fear River.

Chef’s Feast on the River, 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19, will bring together renowned chefs from throughout the area at Pier 33 in for a culinary collaboration for a cause.

Howard and Rhodes will be joined by Dean Neff and Lydia Clopton of PinPoint, Ryan Andress of UNCW Catering, Craig Love of Surf House, Steve Harrington of Steviemack's International Food Company, Jameson Chavez of manna and Matt Register of Southern Smoke BBQ. Each chef will serve up a signature dish to raise funds for families in the Cape Fear region struggling with food insecurity.

According to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, hunger remains a serious problem in the area. Throughout the 34 counties it serves, more than 600,000 people struggle to access the adequate amounts of nutritious food necessary for an active and healthy lifestyle.

Guests will enjoy live music by The Midatlantic and a food-themed live auction as well as sunset on the Cape Fear River. A limited number of tickets are available for an exclusive book discussion and signing with Howard in celebration of her new book "Deep Run Roots."

Tickets for the book signing only are $50. Tickets to the event are $85 for a single, $175 for a couple and $225 for a couple with a Vivian Howard meet and greet. Full details and tickets available online here

Pier 33 is located at 10 Harnett St. in downtown Wilmington.
