Fall Libation Celebrations

By Jessica Maurer, posted Sep 21, 2016
It seems there’s never any shortage of beer and wine events in the Port City, and fall is no exception.

The Wilmington Fall Wine & Beer Walk, sponsored by Cool Wilmington, will take place Saturday. The self-guided tour begins at 1 p.m. at the new Throne Theater, formally Ziggy's By The Sea, 208 Market St. Tickets are $16.00 each, or two for $27.00 and can be purchased online or at Front Street Brewery, 9 N. Front St.

Participating venues include: A Tasting Room, Bar Local, Bombers Bev. Co, Costello’s Piano Bar, Front Street Brewery, Front Street Optometric Care, Inner Banks Wealth Management, Jenn’s Vin, Slice of Life and Tavern Law.

Lighthouse Beer & Wine, 220 Causeway Drive in Wrightsville Beach, will toast to fall with a free tasting of over a dozen wines 1-4 p.m. Saturday in its beer garden. All of the featured wines have been selected with fall cuisine and weather in mind, and every wine in the store will be 20 percent off throughout the day. Lighthouse will also host the The Voracious & Rare Beer Festival and the annual Lighthouse Beer & Wine Festival on Oct. 28 and 29.

Waterline Brewing Co. will host the inaugural Oktoberfest Celebration on Oct. 1, the traditional last Saturday of Munich's festival. The family-friendly event begins at 2 p.m. and will include an outdoor beer tent and beer garden, limited release Oktoberfest Style Beer, brats, pretzels and live authentic German polka music. Waterline has also invited three other North Carolina breweries to showcase their Octoberfest/Marzen style beers, all of which can be enjoyed in limited edition 32-ounce steins. Waterline Brewing Co. is located at 721 Surry St.

Fermetal, 7250 Market St., will celebrate the changing of the seasons with Bachtoberfest on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. The event will include an outdoor performance by the Tallis Chamber Orchestra of Wilmington and
a large selection of fall beverages including ciders, Märzens, meads, pumpkin ales, rieslings and more.

Finally, Wilmington Beer Week takes place Oct. 22-29, with plenty of festivities highlighting craft beer throughout town. Click here for a the full calendar.
