Far from France is scheduled to open in early February 2017 in The Pointe at Barclay dining and entertainment complex at the corner of 17th Street and Independence Boulevard.

Owners Alban and Josephine Pelletier describe the store as a hybrid between a bakery and a gourmet grocery store, featuring products from Alban’s native France.

Alban Pelletier was born in the Loire Valley and spent his early years working at his parent’s bistro. In 1997, he traveled to Dallas for a six-month internship to complete his degree in engineering. It was there that he met Josephine, a pastry chef.

In 1999, the couple moved to France so Josephine Pelletier could enroll at the Ferrandi Culinary School in Paris and experience life in France.

The couple returned to Texas for a number of years before their desire to live by the coast and open their own bakery led them to Wilmington.

Far from France will offer fresh baked goods such as madeleines, caramel cakes, croissants, tarts and brioche. There will also be a wide variety of imported gourmet items including chocolates and macarons from Maxim’s de Paris and Voisin Chocolatier. For those with less of a sweet tooth, Far from France will also offer a large variety of savory items such as spreads from L’Epicurien and French oils, vinegars and mustards.

The store's website will also offer the opportunity for customers to purchase the items from Maxim’s de Paris and L’Epicurien online.

Far From France will be located at 1474 Barclay Pointe Blvd., Suite 204 in The Pointe at Barclay.
