Convenience Dining Options Expand In Carolina Beach

By Jessica Maurer, posted Jun 29, 2016
Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its doors in Carolina Beach a week ago, offering a new sandwich shop to locals and beachgoers alike.

With a limited number of fast food options, such as McDonald’s, Hardee’s and Subway, the recent addition of fast casual concepts such as Flaming Amy’s Burrito Barn and Jersey Mike’s offer variety and convenience to those on the island.

“Although there’s been a Subway here for some time, there really are not many other options for sandwiches and quick, convenient meals,” said Jersey Mike’s general manager Nikole Silva. “And Jersey Mike’s offers a variety of healthy options versus some traditional fast foods.”

The Carolina Beach location at 910 N. Lake Park Blvd. is owned by island resident Jason Kesler and partner Charlie Farris, who owns several Jersey Mike’s locations in the Chapel Hill area. Silva said business has been steady since opening day, and an opening week promotion helped to raise several thousand dollars for the Carolina Beach Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.

Locally based franchise Charlie Graingers also has plans to open in Carolina Beach sometime in August, according to a Facebook post. Located in the Food Lion-anchored Snows Cut Crossing shopping center at 1401 N. Lake Park Blvd., the family-friendly restaurant will serve all-beef hot dogs, brisket and barbecue.

The restaurant also signed a lease for space at Harris Teeter-anchored Surf City Crossing at U.S. 17 and N.C. 210 in Hampstead.

Eastern Carolinas Commercial Real Estate, which is also the leasing firm for Snows Cut Crossing, represented Charlie Grangers in both leases, and Weingarten Realty represented Surf City Crossing.
