John and Erin Musser, along with daughter Brookes and son-in-law Donnie Stone, are just days away from opening Bill’s Front Porch, a full-service brewery and restaurant at 4238 Market St.

The building, which sits in front of Capt’n Bills Backyard Grill, has been renovated to include the installation of a seven-barrel brewing system and custom woodwork and furniture by craftsman Daniel Butler.

Chef Joel Marinucci, who comes to Bill’s from Morgantown Brewing Co. in Morgantown, West Virginia, will serve a wide variety of pub food along with a healthy dose of fresh seafood and the Musser family’s Southern fried chicken. A bucket of fried chicken for the family comes with slaw, mac and cheese, green beans and hush puppies for $35. The low country boil for two includes shrimp, mussels, smoked kielbasa, new potatoes, corn on the cob, slaw and hushpuppies for $34.

Marinucci said he would incorporate the brewery’s beer and local products into his recipes, creating blackboard specials featuring new items every couple of weeks. These specials will focus on seasonal celebrations, not only those in the states, but throughout the world. Marinucci makes his own dressings, condiments and pickles a well as a variety of unique desserts.

Head brewer Jim Deaton comes to Bill’s from Blowing Rock Brewing Co. and is trained in traditional German-style brewing. He anticipates having six beers on tap to start, working his way up to 10-12. Bill’s also will typically have six guest taps featuring beers from other local breweries.

The bar at Bill’s Front Porch will carry several specialty drinks featuring liquors from the Carolinas and West Virginia. The Hail Mary, Bill’s version of a Bloody Mary, will be garnished with local seafood and hushpuppies and served with a splash of stout.

Bill’s Front Porch is expected to open the week of June 20. It is posting updates on its Facebook page.
