Two local events are on tap to close out Wilmington’s celebration of North Carolina Craft Beer Month.

PinPoint Restaurant will host a beer dinner with Wilmington Brewing Company Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Chef Dean Neff and brewer John Savard will collaborate on a six-course, seven-beer pairing menu.

Highlights from the menu include smoked and braised brats, Harkers Island oysters and smoked North Carolina sturgeon paired with Cask of Bier Garden Kolsch; braised Spanish octopus paired with Tropical Island IPA; and a poke of cured Hawaiian Marlin toro paired with Lemon Ginger Saison.

Tickets are $75 and include tax and gratuity. They can be purchased at both PinPoint Restaurant and Wilmington Brewing Company. PinPoint is at 114 Market St.

On Saturday, Fermental will host an evening with Hi-Wire Brewing of Asheville.

Located in the heart of Asheville's brewery district, Hi-Wire has been brewing its circus-themed beer since 2011. Hi-Wire beers are currently available throughout the state and will soon see distribution in South Carolina and Tennessee.

An Evening With Hi-Wire Brewing includes a visit from sales director Tom Plourde and Hi-Wire's graphic artist and package designer, Charlotte Oden.

The event will include samples from multiple Hi-Wire draft and bottle selections, giveaways, food from Poor Piggy’s food truck, and live music begining at 8 p.m. with Nelson & The Rock-A-Fellas.

Fermental's final 2016 NC Beer Month salute also serves as a fundraiser for the New Hanover County Parks Conservancy's final phase of construction of the Ogden Skate Park planned for Northern Wilmington later this year.

Although the necessary funds have been raised to begin construction of phase one and phase two of the skate park, the NHC Parks Conservancy still needs funding to add the final touches on the project. NHC representatives will be available for questions or comments regarding the future skate park.

Fermental is located at 7250-B Market Street.
