Rise Biscuits Donuts of Durham, an eatery featuring sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options, announced Monday the opening of its first Wilmington location at 1319 Military Cutoff Road in the Landfall Shopping Center.

Rise has seven locations in the Raleigh-Durham market with signed agreements for 21 more in North Carolina, Florida and Texas.

“We are excited to bring chef-driven biscuits and fun doughnuts to Wilmington,” said Rise Biscuits Donuts founder Tom Ferguson. “When looking at where to take Rise next, Wilmington was among our first targets. We love our Military Cutoff location and look forward to serving the entire town and coastal communities.”

Rise serves biscuit sandwiches with fillings like country ham, fried chicken and sausage topped with cheeses, spreads and eggs. It also features a monthly specialty biscuit such as a braised lamb with cucumber dill sauce and a sirloin burger with French onion sauce and Gruyere cheese.

A variety of doughnuts is made fresh daily, with each store creating a menu of rotating specials as well as “old school” and “new school” flavors.

The 1,700-square-foot store will be located next to Terrazzo Trattoria and is the second corporate-owned Rise franchise location. Rise Biscuits Donuts was represented by Tyler Pegg and Cody Cress of The Cress Group with Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast. Mike Brown and Howard Coupland with Cape Fear Commercial represented the landlord.

“Rise will be a welcoming destination restaurant for both locals and visitors,” Pegg said. “The efficient service, unique menu and affordable price points will be extremely appealing to all who try it. After visiting their Durham location, it was unmistakable that Rise would be a hit in Wilmington.”

Rise Biscuits Donuts is expected to open by late summer.
