The Wilmington Wine and Chocolate Festival returns this weekend to the Coastline Event Center. The center will be transformed into a European-style street market for the three-day event.

The festival is an annual fundraiser for the Volunteer Older Citizens Action League (V.O.C.A.L.), a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving seniors and supporting senior services. Now in its fifth year, the festival boasts of over 50 regional wine makers, chocolatiers, bakers, specialty food purveyors, musical artists and artisans.

The Grand Tasting will take place Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. This event offers ticketholders heavy hors d’oeuvres from Catering Thyme as well as samples from regional vintners, chocolatiers and specialty food purveyors. A Beer, Cigar & Comedy Lounge will feature craft beer from Broomtail Craft Brewery, cigars from Atomic Cigars and Basile, the Comedian at 8 p.m. El Jaye Johnson & The Port City All-Stars will perform under the lights of the Eiffel Tower in the Grand Hall.

The Wine and Chocolate Marketplace will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and will feature vendors as well as a variety of culinary demonstrations and musical performances. A Kid’s Korner will provide activities for children.
